On the canvases of the famous Ukrainian naive-artist
Maria Primachenko are odd creatures with funny names.
The members of the Primachenko family say that the animals
on the paintings remind them of their n eighbours and relatives .
Some of the animals are cheerful and kind,
some of them are light-hearted and lazy,
and some are venomous and lonely.
The booklet about Primachenko's exhibition seems as bright and absurd as
the artist's work. Looking through the booklet, you won't find any dates or biographical references. Strange, sometimes mystical stories about Maria
go one after another and vivid works contrast
with a black and white photo from the family album.
The cover of the booklet contains
information about the exhibition and a list of stories.
The construction of the booklet allows the reader
to turn the pages so as to combine the left and right parts of the beasts,
signifying their anatomy .
So who are these neighbours of Maria Primachenko? Animals or people?
For me, they are animals with human faces .
